My stand on coal mining opposition still remains, Kasalu tells Ngilu’s face
Kitui Women representative Dr. Irene Kasalu on Saturday, June 9th told Governor Ngilu’s face that her stand on opposing coal mining in the rich Mui coal basin within Kitui county has not changed.
Speaking during a fundrive aimed at constructing a dormitory at Thitani girls secondary school within Mwingi west constituency, Dr.Kasalu told Kitui Governor that she vehemently protests coal extraction because she has the interests of the locals at heart.
“Coal mining comes with alot of health hazard and this will directly affect Mui residents and it’s neighborhood ,”Kasalu pointed out.
The Woman MP added that Governor Ngilu has been her long time role model and has been following her footsteps especially during her campaigns that saw her attaining her current position but on coal mining, she strongly disputes any plans to relocate Mui in order to pave way for the kick off of coal mining.
“Governor Ngilu I have always followed your successful foot steps and I love you, but on coal mining I do not support you,”Kasalu emphasized
